Next Generation of Mobile Computers -- MiniTablets

I found this interesting post by Michael Beck (digitalnomad) of Rugged Notebooks.

Military and industrial interests are always looking for ways to leverage technology, and these mini-tablets might be the answer. For a light infantry soldier or a company field worker, someone who might have to "hump" in challenging climates (heat, humidity, etc), weight and durability do count. When I served, I had what was considered ruggedized communication devices in my rucksack and I often felt like a "beast of burden.”

I wouldn’t have minded carrying a more “soldier friendly” communication device like the one shown to the left.

Ironic Presidential History -- Kennedy and Lincoln

Something I received in an email...

History Lesson

Have a history teacher explain this-----if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

An Aesthetically Humbling Moment

I think this is what you would call an aesthetically humbling moment . Here’s the updated story on Ms. Paris Hilton if you haven't already read or heard about it. She has been ordered back to jail. I'll be glad when this circus act is over.

esofthub: "Be all you can be"

Today, I'm taking a break from my hodgepodge/HOWTO posting. I was asked to guest blog about my military experiences while in the U.S. Army by Steve of HMTK, also a former trooper. Thanks Steve.

So today's linked posting is "Be all you can be." I hope you find it interesting.

Improve Google PageRank and Technorati Rankings with NetTags!

Got this from The ANiTOKID:

The Internet is all about collaborations, and taking a good idea and mold it into a better one. A few weeks ago, Andy Coates, a new blogger started a link building program called netlinks. So far it has been quite successful with many bloggers getting into the chain to help each other build links.

As nice as it is, however, there is a downside to that chain. It uses no anchor text, but only a * in its place. Andy had mentioned that he tried something else that was similar, but bloggers were slow to ping back (or not at all) with an anchor text. So the stars were used instead.

This program allows anchor text while using an easier way to know what anchor text other bloggers wanted on the matrix. This is more attractive and could be more viral. Here’s what was done to make it better. You will use anchor text/tags of your choice, which are called “NetTags."

Instructions:

1.) Copy and paste the matrix of “NetTags” below.

2.) Substitute the Host Tag and one of the “NetTags” in the matrix with your anchor text of choice with your blog’s URL. Please keep anchor text to a max of 3 words to keep the matrix size manageable.

3.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your link in one of their “NetTags”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Tag’s anchor text (automatically the associated link will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “NetTags” below.

4.) Encourage and invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

Important: Once I get a ping back or comment from you below, I will add your anchor text and the associated link you designate as “Host Tag” here, replacing one of the “NetTags” from the matrix above. As more and more bloggers copy and paste this matrix, the more backlinks you will have with your anchor text. If everybody who copy and paste from your blog does the same, pretty soon this will spread and go viral. So, the sooner you participate, the more links with anchor text you will receive.

==== Copy and Paste from Above this line ====

There it is folks. This should help you improve your Technorati ranking, SERP and Google PR. Please leave comment here if you have copied from this matrix so that I can add you just in case your ping back didn’t reach me.
