By the way, I found the aformentioned site via hscripts.com while troubleshooting a mail issue with their IP/DNS tool.

FreeHostia - Outgoing Connections Support to be Discontinued

Apparently, I created an account with these guys awhile ago. I probably used it to promote (not host) FreeAdLists.com when I launched it almost 2 years ago.

It appears Freehostia's free hosting plan will not allow members to use Google Adsense (JavaScript) or similar applications that require a remote connection to a server. I assume more hosting sites with these free hosting plans will follow suit.

Due to the increasing number of complaints about abusive free web hosting account usage, FreeHostia is forced to discontinue the support of outgoing connections to remote servers for all free web hosting accounts. This restriction on outgoing connections will become effective on December 16th, 2008.

If outgoing connections are vital for your website (for example, if you are using RSS feeds or any other information from remote servers) we would recommend you to consider upgrading to a paid account. You can do this using the Upgrade section of your Control Panel.
